Disposable sheaths are thin plastic tubes that slide over the barrels of artificial insemination guns, serving the purpose of seating the semen straw and holding it in place during the A.I. procedure.
Standard A.I. Sheaths - There are two basic types of A.I. guns used and this determines the type of sheath that is required. Standard sheaths are available in either a "slit" or "unslit" version. The "slit" version has a green insert in the tube and is used for use with "O-ring" style A.I. guns which have an expanding taper and utilize an O-ring to lock and hold the sheath firmly in place on the gun. The "unslit" version has a blue insert in the tube and is used with "push-on" style A.I. guns and these will snugly fit when pushed over the ringed threads on the A.I. gun hilt. Either style will work with the Quick-Lock™ insemination guns.
